A little unauthorized shopping

Since I'm going to NY for the day next week, this was really unnecessary, but I was a little bored at work last week (something that hardly ever happens) and I started browsing around on Fabric.com. I haven't purchased from them in quite a while - their quality has been hit or miss for me - but they had some cute knits and the prices were right, so I allowed myself to click "buy" a few times. But only a few.

First, this black, green and yellow doily print slinky. Cute, huh? It's going to be Vogue 2980. I had a misfire on that pattern earlier this year and need to make it up. This will be perfect. I haven't worked much with slinky knit but I think it will be good for this top, and there won't be so much of it that it will be sliding all over the sewing table.

Next, this olive and black square print jersey. This is definitely going to be the BWOF 5/2008 dress with the buckle that everyone has been making. Somewhere in the rubble that is my workroom there is a cute black plastic buckle that needs to be part of this dress. Now I just have to find it!

I'm not quite sure what this black, gray and white stained glass print is going to be ... yet. It'll tell me. A top of some sort, obviously. I'll go through my back issues of BWOF and look at the rest of the Patrones, but I have fingers crossed for the August issue due out next month - the first issue of fall clothes always has some really great stuff, and I'm hoping for a knit top pattern that will do justice to this wonderful, busy print. (I love prints. I just do. I think in my last life I was probably a quilt.)

My last purchase was a yard of white crinkled shirting. I probably should have gotten more, but while I liked it, I didn't think I could bear an entire shirt made out of it. So this too is a fabric in search of a pattern. I have some white stretch shirting in the stash, and I have plenty of interesting remnants that might want to be paired up with this, given the right project.
So, two in the queue, two on the shelf. Not awful.

If this is what I do when I don't plan to shop, be afraid for me in NY. I'm going to try to stick by my rule of not buying more than I can carry; if I let Kashi ship it home for me, I'm done for.

I love all of those! I think that 06/2004 #127 is crinkle cotton looking. I'm going to take a shot at 07/2008 #116 in a black eyelet. It is either going to be cute or look very maternity, we'll see. It would be cute in a crinkle cotton too.

I think all are these are great choices. You picked just the right colours and styles for yourself. Can't wait to see what they all become!

I like that white piece a lot! I have a white tee that has a panel of white cotton like that as an 4' wide inset at the front. Just an idea. Have fun in NYC- it seems like you are always going to some fun places lately!

I'm worried for you, Karen! I filled up an entire wheeled shopping bag when I saw Kashi three weeks ago.

Nice Score! I didn't check my email on Wednesday and the pickings were pretty slim by the time I checked it Thursday evening. My husband was non-committal about dinner until he saw I was shopping at Fabric.com. "I'm hungry...NOW!" (Go fix it yourself, Mr. Man!) Mary

Karen - figgetaboutit! You might as well give up that ghost and realize that Kashi is going to be shipping home! *LOL* Call me when you get in so I can tell you how I'm running on time! Can't wait to see you!

Oh and I have looked at those knits several times but have managed to resist their siren song...

Oh gosh! You're going to visit Kashi? I'm am totally jealous ;) !

I was able to pass up the fabric.com knit prints (there were some really cute ones too), but ended up at my local B&M fabric store anyway LOL. Guess it didn't really matter.
