zero waste

Over on my Facebook business page, I have a weekly Recycle Tuesday feature.  Since most of those are either photos or links to articles elsewhere, I don't generally share them here.  But every once in a while, something is so good that it needs to be spread around.

One of the reasons I got into upcycling was the epiphany one day that I was throwing out more fabric than I was using.  I'd always kept scraps, but never really did much with them until I started my business.  This designer closed his business and then got the scrap epiphany -- in a major way.  Here's a video showing his technique.  Watch this and try to stay away from your sewing machine.  Just try.  I dare you.

Coolest thing ever! Daniel is a smart man. I use the fabric scrap pieces from my fashion sewing for quilts & kennel mats for our local animal shelter.

Thanks for sharing, it's really got me enthused to try this out. I'm an avid scrap saver, keeping them mainly for applique but this is a much better idea!

As always Karen, you and your visions are close to my heart! Loved this piece and on that note, soon I will be selling my own fabric scrap creations...I'll be in touch when I get my newsletter out. Lamar from Texas

Yup - watching this before work and wishing I could play hooky and sew....I've a bin of knit scraps that would be perfect for this concept. Love this idea and his approach.

My heart bursts with joy over this! Not a new idea and he's certainly not the ONLY designer working this way and that's exactly what makes it so wonderful! Wish more designers and sewists would get on board! Very grateful to you for sharing this vid! xoxo

So happy to see this many reactions to the video. I really found it inspiring. I do a lot with scrap already, because of my business, but now I need to find time to make a few things for myself using my take on his methods.
