Changes coming soon

Possibly the prettiest tree in town
I'm giving everyone a heads up that there's some work going on with this website, now and in the near future.

This site started out as a blog on Blogger. I had it set up in a way that worked for me then. When I transitioned over to writing, I didn't want to reinvent the wheel and start a new website, because some of you have been around from the sewing days and are interested in books, as well. So I bought a domain through Google, assuming that would be best since Blogger was a Google product, and just did a redirect for anyone searching for the old blog name.

That has worked, until now. Or until a few years ago, if I'm honest. I don't really want the blog as the homepage. I'm certainly not giving it up, but I would like it to be a page, not the actual landing page. But because of that initial setup in blogger, I can't do that.

Enter ChatGPT. I've been having discussions with it about redoing the website, and it has several suggestions of how to achieve what I want. So depending on how long this takes and how much of the work I can get it to do for me, the blog may be down for a few days. It may not. It may - likely will - look different.

Slowly but surely, AI has been selling itself to me on its usefulness. I am not a tech person. My husband is, but I like to use his services as rarely as possible, reserving them for when I'm really stuck. And I recently changed newsletter subscribers and was able to authenticate my own domain name with AI's help, no husbandly tech support required at all.

So if I want the site to work properly, and if I want to be found in the brave new world of AI search, I should let the robot do its thing.

More soon.

Maybe it'll even be done by the time this posts on Wednesday.
