Okay, so because of Mario's insane work schedule, I get the luxury of lots and lots of uninterrupted sewing time for the next 10 days. Which means something more involved than shirts for him (which I've been doing, just need to take photos) or something summery and stretchy for me.
That much time calls for a jacket.
But which one?
There's this moss green eyelet corduroy which I bought in March 2007 at Reine while we were in Paris. It's been wanting to be a jacket ever since I bought it, and I've changed projects about 6 times without taking scissors to it. But it may be time. I think it might want to be BWOF 4/09 #115. (I waited until Dawn sewed it up to make sure I still liked it; she also did it in cord, which was even better - thanks, Dawn!). I even have the perfect matching green dome buttons for it.
Then there's the Hotpatterns Riviera Cardigan, which I want to make in black. I need a black jacket to keep in the office to replace the ratty black sweater which I wear entirely too often because it's always entirely too cold at work. Not only does the Riviera Cardigan look like it would work with almost anything, and so should be made in black (along with other colors), but that would be the perfect opportunity to test drive it. I don't make a lot of Hotpatterns, and the black could act as a wearable muslin.
So what should I do first - use the fabric that's been waiting the longest, or make the jacket that will get worn the most?
I'm open to opinions because my brain just can't wake up and make a decision.

They are both nice jackets. From reading your blog, I think that you will make both of them in the next 10 days(You're such a production seamstress!). For your first jacket, my vote is for making the jacket that will get worn most.
I just love that plaid jacket. Where is it from?
That BWOF jacket is just so me and wouldn't you know that was the issue that never made it to my house.
I say make the jacket that will get the most wear first.
I'm with everyone else: make the "useful" one first and you'll surely have time for the other too. Hey, fabric age is not an issue, I hope. I have fabric that's older than...dirt.
Where can I find more cat photos. You have plenty 'o cats as I recall. There can never be too many cat pix.
I think you'll love the BWOF one. It'll be perfect in green.
Both cute patterns but being a rather practicle lady I'd probably start with the black. I'm always cold at work too. But I wear a ratty sweatshirt. Guess I should make a jacket for work too. I just started my own blog, please come and take a look.
I agree with Rose, you will probably get both of the jackets complete. I vote for the BWOF jacket.
I like the BWOF, but it's the use of the plaid that makes it really pop. LOVE the Hot Patterns jacket.
I have a ratty cardigan that resides at my cold office too.
I vote for the HP jacket. Because with summer starting, are you really needing a corduroy jacket? But you called it an 'eyelet corduroy' so is it a more summery fabric?
I would make the one in special fabric first. You may wear it less often, but you'll love it more.
