I did it my way

Revenge is a dish best served cold, but getting my way tastes pretty damn good - hot, cold or at room temperature.

The galaxy shirt - it's not done yet, but all it needs is a collar, buttons and the hem.

He gave in last night. Mostly gave in. He doesn't actually know yet that the shirt's almost finished, but he said that he wouldn't object if I made it.

And that means what? You're going to look at the result of all my hard work and not wear it?

I don't think so. It will get worn this weekend.

He did finally tell me what he had against the fabric - apparently all it needs is little tiny spacemen on it and it looks like his big-boy sleeping bag from Scouts in 2nd grade.

I think I need to embroider one little tiny spaceman somewhere on the shirt, maybe the inside yoke, where only he can see it.

I think I had a mattress when I was a kid (my first "big girl mattress") in the early 80's that had a pattern like this on the fabric. I used to peel off my sheets to look at it! That said, I would not wear it either :) The construction is nice though!

I think it's a great shirt! You should definitely add a little spaceman!

This reminds me of conversations I've had with my daughter when I sew for her. After much trial and error, she has gotten better about being up front with me. Now she says diplomatic things like "Mom, I don't want you to waste your time making that for me when I probably won't wear it."

I think it looks great made up! I'm confident he'll wear it. It's a novelty shirt. Nothing wrong with that. And I laughed out loud when you mentioned possibly embroidering a little space man. YOU. HAVE. TO. DO. THAT!!!

He'll change his tune once he receives compliments on the shirt. I'm sure he will - it's a great (and conversational) shirt. Please show us a picture of that little spaceman once you add it!

Hah...{{smile}} Roger used to do this to me all the time.

...until he got used to custom fit...and until his projects had to be squeezed into my schedule for my (some of them famous) shirt-making clients. Now he wears any shirt I make for him....even some pretty wild batiks...without complaint...YAY !

Is the the galaxy print that bad? I think it's a fun shirt. But then again, what do I know. There are a few advantages to wearing the shirt: perfect custom fit; sure to receive another, and the little spaceman on the inside yoke. Sounds pretty appealing to me. ;-)

Hey, I think it looks really nice. So many men wear the bright Hawaiian florals, so why not something a little more of a modern twist. Go ahead--embroider at *least* one spaceman.
