1. How the fuck did this happen? Sorry, I think I also started last year's birthday post with a similar sentiment, but the thought occurs every year - how did this happen? And when? Was I not paying attention?
2. 52 is better than 42, which was a hell of a lot better than 32, and let't not even talk about 22. The best part of aging is that every year, you give less of a rat's ass about all the things that bothered you in the preceding decade. If 52 is any indication, I'm going to be a dangerous old woman.
3. I wish I had as much physical energy as I do mental. I get tons of ideas, and have about half the follow through that I'd like. When I had the energy, I had no idea what to do with it.
So there you have it. Another year, a few more cranky thoughts about the aging process.

Happy birthday! I know what you mean about "How the fuck did this happen???" I've thought that so many times! But the only one that really bothered me (so far) was 60. Even 65 wasn't so bad.
The way you are living your life - not afraid to change, to take risks to accomplish what you want - you will never get old, just older.
Snicker. Just wait 'till 62 hits. I'm coming up on that one this year. And yes, it's "How the **** did this happen?" Like Kay just said, never get old, just older.

I hit 71 in August and that is exactly what I said. Really. I'm not old in my head, I've had experiences, great, good, bad and a couple terrible. I've learned things. Where is my reward? All this wisdom is being wasted
Happy Birthday! Turning 55 this year and couldn't have said it better myself.
Love your blog!

Happy Birthday to you!:)
Happy Birthday Karen! I've been saying something similar every year since 31. :)
Have a great day!
Happy Birthday Karen! I'll be turning 54 this summer and EXACTLY! I'm letting my hair go grey and sometimes I look in the mirror and say "Who the hell are you?" and then remember it's me.
Happy Birthday to you (a little late)!! I'm turning 60 in 2 months and finally feel like a have somewhat of a handle on my life and don't feel like I'm this old. Hope it continues! Hey, it is what it is!
You are lucky! I hope you get to see many, many more!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday! I just turned 56 so I have absolutely no sympathy for you. Ha! If does keep getting better though, so chin up!
Happy Birthday!! I'm coming up to 54 and I think I can safely say "exactly" for every single point you have made. I do the maths every year and it's right but I can't work out how.
Happy birthday! Normally I'm delightfully disoriented to how old I am, but this year I'll be turning 55 and it's freaking me out a little. But I do agree, things do get better as we age.
